In Neuchâtel, the police have arrested four individuals in connection with a series of fraudulent impersonations, known as „false policemen.“ This alarming trend intensified between October 29 and November 4, 2025, with five incidents recorded in Val-de-Ruz, La Chaux-de-Fonds, and Marin, resulting in a staggering total loss of CHF 23,000. Just days later, on November 8, police apprehended two additional suspects following a failed scam attempt in Locle.

Among those arrested are three French nationals and one Italian, aged 20 to 24, all residing in France. Additionally, three other false officers linked to four earlier scams, including one with a CHF 14,000 loss, were captured in Fribourg. The public prosecutor has launched a formal investigation into these criminal activities, urging residents to stay vigilant against such scams, which are unfortunately still prevalent in Switzerland. Authorities recommend that individuals should immediately hang up if they suspect a scam, avoid sharing personal information over the phone, and report any suspicious activity to the police.
