Geneva’s Roads in Turmoil: Major Construction Disruptions Ahead!

In Genève, a series of significant roadworks are set to disrupt traffic starting May 2025, affecting various streets across the city. The closure of a section of rue de Carouge between rue du Pré-Jérôme and rue Jean-Violette has already been in effect since May 22, 2025, rerouting vehicles from Pré-Jérôme to the Plainpalais roundabout. These works are part of an extensive renovation plan for the area.

Additionally, from May 26, 2025, the rue De-Miléant will shift to one-way traffic heading towards Saint-Jean for approximately two months as part of road surface repairs. Other key changes include traffic restrictions on rue des Alpes from May 27 to 29, causing potential delays, and the rue de Lyon will see reduced lanes for three months beginning May 26, 2025, complicating transit in the vicinity. Roadworks will also impact the route des Jeunes, where some lanes will be removed and alternate routes will be advised from the same date. Meanwhile, multiple nighttime closures are scheduled for maintenance, including the route du Pont-Butin and viaduc de l’Ecu, both weighing heavily on late-night traffic. For detailed maps and real-time updates, residents can refer to the City of Geneva’s official transport website.
